The objectives of IDEAL are
1/ To foster interdisciplinary research and promote knowledge syntheses and applications bridging concepts, methods and multidisciplinary data in agroecology, biodiversity, hydrology, and social sciences. To do so, we will apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science (DS) to depict current socio-ecological conditions from large datasets and co-construct models of adaptive transformation pathways towards sustainable agroecological landscapes in the Brazilian Nordeste;
2/ To offer academic training and scientific exchange programs on AI and DS applied to Sustainability Sciences. We will organize seminars, thematic schools, and training via ITAN, the IDEAL Transformative Adaptation Network that will connect institutions and territories facing similar challenges;
3/ To strengthen the international visibility of Brazilian research teams with cutting-edge publications, open source demonstrators, and FAIR data supporting stakeholders, governments, and communities in socio-ecological transitions.
